Professor Shuyang Cao graduated from the Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering of Shanghai Jiaotong University in 1988, and then studied in the Department of Applied Physics (1998) and Ph.D. in Systems Engineering (2001) from Miyazaki University, Japan. He successively served as the engineer of the Mine Test Site of the 710th Research Institute of CSIC (1988), the Manager of Sensor Design Department of Shanghai Huatong Industrial Control Application Technology Research Institute (1993), and the loss prevention engineer of American International Group AIU Insurance Company Shanghai Branch (1994). Assistant Professor (2001), Department of Architectural Engineering, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Associate Professor (2004), Professor (2008), Department of Bridge Engineering, Tongji University, and Professor of Wind Engineering, Tokyo University of Technology, Japan Visiting professor at the Center and an adjunct professor at the Clemson University School of Engineering and Science.
Professor Cao has long been engaged in the field of wind engineering research. He teaches advanced structural dynamics and bridge wind resistance theory and control courses, and has successively directed many doctoral and master students. He is the author of several books and many high-level papers such as Advanced Structural Wind Engineering, Building Wind Load Fluid Calculation Guide, 2004 Wind and Wind Disasters and Lessons, and Manila New Area Sustainability. He has presided over several research projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. Invited reports at the 8th Asia-Pacific Wind Engineering Congress and the 14th International Wind Engineering Conference, and served as members of the 7th International Academic Committee of Computational Wind Engineering Conference, and the 8th International Academic Committee on the Role of Environment and Architecture and Crowd And member of the 15th International Wind Engineering Conference International Advisory Committee and Chairman of the International Academic Committee. Professor Cao Shuyang developed the world's first array of multi-wind turbine active control wind tunnels, China's first mobile tornado wind tunnel, independently developed a series of high-precision wind engineering mathematical models, and also won the Japan Wind Engineering Society Award (paper award) ).
In addition, Professor Cao Shuyang also served as Secretary-General and Executive Committee of the International Wind Engineering Society (IAWE), Director of the China Aerodynamics Society, Member of the Wind Engineering Committee of the China Civil Engineering Society, Member of the China Aerodynamics Committee for Computational Fluid Dynamics and China Aerodynamics.
